The client needed a platform for data sharing and social collaboration across various departments of the organization. The client has various manufacturing, packaging plants at dispersed geographical locations. The client didn’t have any collaboration application in place. Considering the growing pace of the organization; client was keen on using a collaboration application.
Considering the client’s specific requirements such as search, document management, retaining file permissions led NGenious Solutions to use SharePoint platform. NGenious Solutions, Inc., offered its’ technical expertise to build the platform for data sharing and social collaboration using SharePoint Server 2010.
The team created different custom web parts to allow users to post announcements, news, events pictures and much more to the department sites. The solution also provided different kinds of announcement and news based on the targeted audience e.g. department specific news, organization-wide news. The team built RSS feed web parts, which displays the feed data into SharePoint site. So users get the latest information on their department site from their favourite feeds. There was also functionality to suggest an RSS feed, through which users can share feeds which can be useful for their department/organization.
